The photo to the right shows the engines mounted
ready for synchronizing. Wing is in test bed stand to save wear
and tear on the fuselage.
The break in on all four engines is now
complete and total run times vary from 9.2 - 10.10 hours per engine.
About 98% of the test flying was done with a cub on a 16x12 prop.
Keith firstly tried a 13.4x13.5 3-bladed prop but was not happy with the
results. He then tried a 15x13.5 and a 15x13W 3-bladed APC prop
cut down to 12.5" diameter to provide fuselage clearance and prop
overlap and has had much more success with them comparing well to the
16x12. |
Top Tip
Keith comments 'the engines do not care for cold temperatures
and are stiff to turn. I solved this by running my vehicles motor
and holding the RCV engine to the exhaust for a couple of minutes before
starting '
