This Spirit of St Louis model aircraft was scratch built by Mr Smethurst using photographs and film to obtain the scale details.

2002 represents the 75th anniversary of when this aircraft flew from New York to Paris.  The flight took 33 1/2 hours and narrowly avoided crashing when the pilot lost concentration.

Mr Smethurst notes that the Spirit 'flies very   well with the RCV60SP'.

The model is 10lbs in weight and RCV usually recommend a model closer to 7lbs for the 60SP, however the engine copes very well.

Mr Smethurst comments the engine
is 'great & beautiful'

He has backed up his enthusiasm for RCV by purchasing a couple of the brand new RCV58CD engines which he is planning to put in a twin engine plane.
